Assistant/Associate Professor of Biology – American University in Dubai

The School of Arts and Sciences at the American University in Dubai (AUD) invites applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Biology, with teaching expected to begin in Fall 2026. About the Position AUD is seeking a Biology faculty member who can contribute to high-quality undergraduate teaching, scholarly research, curriculum development, and interdisciplinary academic initiatives. The School is particularly interested in candidates able to teach Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, although applicants with expertise in related biological sciences are also encouraged to apply. Relevant areas may include: Biochemistry. Molecular Biology. Biotechnology. Cell Biology. Metabolic Research. Forensic Science. Related biological sciences. Qualifications Applicants must hold a PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related biological science from a Western-accredited institution at the time of appointment. Candidates should demonstrate: Excellence in undergraduate teaching. A strong research background. Evidence of scholarly productivity within their area of specialization. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. The ability to collaborate effectively with academic colleagues. Willingness to contribute to curriculum development and interdisciplinary initiatives. Preferred Qualifications AUD is particularly interested in candidates with experience integrating one or more of the following into undergraduate education: Laboratory-based research. Computational approaches. Fieldwork. The ability to teach a broad range of both foundational and specialized Biology courses aligned with departmental needs is also desirable. Teaching and Academic Responsibilities Successful candidates should provide evidence of successful teaching experience or demonstrate significant potential for effective undergraduate teaching. The successful candidate will also be expected to: Teach undergraduate Biology courses. Contribute to courses in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology where appropriate. Maintain an active programme of research and professional scholarship. Contribute to curriculum development. Support interdisciplinary academic initiatives. Participate in departmental and School service. Engage with the wider university and community.
