About AI Training and Data Collection
AI systems learn from real-world examples prepared and reviewed by people. In this role, your first-person video and smartphone motion data will help AI and robotics systems understand human movement, making your careful recordings part of the human work behind modern technology.
- Support AI and robotics development with real-world movement data
- Work remotely with a smartphone and head-mounted phone holder
- Choose a flexible part-time workload of fewer than 20 hours per week
The Role
OpenTrain is hiring an at-home smartphone motion video contributor to complete assigned physical activities while recording first-person video and synchronized smartphone IMU sensor data. You will use a phone mounted on a head strap, follow collection standards, and deliver consistent, high-quality recordings.
This is an entry-level individual contractor opportunity performed remotely from eligible U.S. states. Compensation is $10 to $15 per hour, with work available for fewer than 20 hours per week.
- Employment type: Independent contractor and part time
- Experience level: Entry level
- Pay: $10 to $15 per hour
- Work arrangement: Remote, at home
- Data type: Video and smartphone IMU sensor data
What You'll Do
You will perform specified physical movements and capture synchronized video and motion-sensor data from a first-person perspective. Reliable execution, careful documentation, and consistent adherence to technical protocols are essential to producing useful AI training data.
- Record first-person video with a smartphone mounted on a head strap
- Keep both hands visible in the video while completing assigned activities
- Capture accurate motion data through the phone's IMU sensors
- Keep video recordings and sensor data synchronized
- Follow protocols for data quality, labeling, standardization, and delivery
- Document observations and communicate clearly about questions
- Complete established project deliverables reliably
- Perform repetitive movement activities safely
Requirements
You must have the equipment needed to record stable first-person video while preserving visibility of both hands. Familiarity with mobile video and sensor-data capture, close attention to detail, and the ability to follow standardized procedures are required.
- iPhone 12 or later, Google Pixel 6 or later, or Samsung Galaxy S21 or later
- Head strap capable of securely holding the phone while keeping both hands visible
- Ability to capture synchronized first-person video and smartphone IMU sensor data
- Comfort using mobile devices for video and sensor-data collection
- Strong attention to detail and consistent protocol adherence
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Reliable delivery habits
- Physical ability to complete repetitive movements safely
Helpful Background
Previous AI experience is not required if you can follow instructions and produce high-quality data. Background in movement, robotics, sensor collection, or dataset organization can help you succeed, but this is an entry-level opportunity.
- Robotics experience or training
- Kinesiology or human movement analysis
- Sensor-based data collection
- Activity segmentation
- Machine-learning dataset labeling
- Organizing large datasets for AI and robotics applications
