Audio Editor / Engineer for a Podcast Post-Production Agency
We want an audio person who actually hears things other people miss. Someone who notices the aircon hum before anyone mentions it, who can't leave a plosive alone, who knows the difference between a recording that's fixed and one that's merely quieter. If you get satisfaction out of rescuing a terrible recording and making it sound like it was meant to be that way, keep reading. If audio to you means running a noise reduction preset and exporting, this isn't the role.
Audio is the foundation of everything we make. A podcast can survive average video. It cannot survive bad audio. That's why this is a specialist seat and not something we bolt onto a video editor's job.
You'll do some video work too, and we want you comfortable there. But we're hiring you for your ears.
This Role Is Right For You If You:
- Have genuinely good ears, and you trust them
- Get a kick out of restoration work: pulling a usable take out of a rough recording
- Know your way around Reaper and work fast in it
- Understand that clean, natural, and consistent beats heavily processed every time
- Care about the details nobody thanks you for: breaths, plosives, room tone matching, level consistency
- Can work quickly without letting quality slip
- Are organised with files, versions, and sessions
- Communicate clearly in English, written and spoken
- Are a fast learner and happy picking up new tools
- Be excellent at podcast and dialogue audio. Editing, cleanup, levelling, mixing. You can take multiple speakers recorded in different rooms on different gear and make them sound like one cohesive conversation.
- Know Reaper well. This is our DAW. If you're strong in another DAW and genuinely keen to move across, tell us, but you'll need to get up to speed fast.
- Know iZotope RX properly. Not just the presets. We want someone who understands what each module is actually doing and when not to use it. Spectral repair, de-noise, de-reverb, mouth de-click, dialogue isolate. This is a big deal for us.
- Have restraint. Over-processed audio is worse than lightly processed audio. You know when to stop.
- Understand loudness and delivery standards. LUFS targets, true peak, and why they matter for podcast platforms.
- Be able to handle video too. Cutting, syncing, basic assembly. You don't need to be a colourist, but you should be capable and willing on the video side.
- Be a self-starter who manages their own time and hits deadlines without chasing.
- (Bonus) DaVinci Resolve, especially Fairlight
- (Bonus) Music editing, sound design, or mixing beyond dialogue
- (Bonus) Experience with multitrack remote recordings (Riverside, Zencastr, and similar)
- (Bonus) Photoshop or basic design skills
- (Bonus) A genuine interest in podcasts
Audio (the core)
- Edit full podcast episodes: cuts, pacing, removing mistakes and dead air, keeping conversations tight and natural
- Clean up problem recordings: noise, reverb, hum, clicks, plosives, inconsistent levels
- Mix multi-speaker episodes so everyone sits properly against each other
- Master to podcast delivery standards, consistently, every episode
- Integrate intros, outros, music beds, and sound effects
- Sync audio to video and assemble episodes
- Support the video team on cuts and basic edits when needed
- Review your own work carefully before it ships. Listen on more than one set of speakers.
- Keep sessions and files organised to our standards
- Flag source problems early rather than quietly absorbing them
- Strong Reaper skills (or another DAW plus a real willingness to switch)
- Real iZotope RX experience
- Solid grasp of dialogue editing, mixing, and mastering for podcasts
- Understanding of loudness standards (LUFS, true peak)
- Decent monitoring: headphones you trust, and ideally speakers too
- A powerful computer (we'll ask for your specs)
- Fast, reliable internet (we'll ask for a speed test)
- Comfortable with Google Drive, Dropbox, and cloud workflows
- Hours: Australia time (AEST) with good overlap for the Philippines (PHT), flexible within a collaborative window
- Time off: Flexible leave with reasonable notice
- Growth: Advancement, raises, and bonuses for consistent quality work
- Team: Remote, forward-thinking, no micromanagement
