Job Summary
The Book Editor is responsible for ensuring that every manuscript meets BraveMind Publishing's editorial standards before publication. Depending on the needs of the editorial team, the Book Editor may be assigned as either a Copy Editor or Proofreader. Team members may rotate between these roles to promote quality assurance, cross-checking, consistency, and transparency throughout the editorial process.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
1. Copy Editing
- Edit manuscripts for grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax, and sentence structure.
- Improve clarity, readability, flow, and consistency while preserving the author's intended message and voice.
- Ensure consistency in terminology, formatting, capitalization, and style throughout the manuscript.
- Identify repetitive, confusing, or awkward passages and suggest improvements.
- Verify basic factual consistency and flag questionable information for further review.
- Use Track Changes and comments when editing manuscripts.
- Coordinate with the writer and Publishing Assistant regarding revisions and clarifications.
2. Proofreading
- Conduct the final editorial review before publication.
- Detect and correct any remaining grammar, spelling, punctuation, formatting, spacing, and typographical errors.
- Verify page numbering, headings, captions, tables, and cross-references.
- Ensure the manuscript is publication-ready and free from editorial errors.
- Report any layout or formatting issues requiring correction.
3. Editorial Quality Assurance
- Review manuscripts objectively and maintain high editorial standards.
- Follow the company's editorial style guide and quality checklist.
- Ensure consistency across all chapters and book sections.
- Double-check AI-assisted content for accuracy, natural flow, and readability.
- Maintain confidentiality of all manuscripts and publishing materials.
4. Collaboration
- Work closely with Writers, Publishing Assistants, Layout Designers, and the CMO.
- Communicate revision requirements clearly and professionally.
- Participate in editorial discussions and quality reviews when necessary.
- Assist in maintaining an efficient editorial workflow and meeting project deadlines.
5. Time and Task Management
- Complete assigned editing tasks within the agreed deadlines.
- Update task progress regularly using the company's task management system (e.g., ClickUp or Monday.com).
- Notify the Publishing Assistant promptly of any delays, issues, or additional revision requirements.
- Prioritize projects based on company deadlines rather than personal preference.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform minor fact-checking and consistency checks when necessary.
- Assist in reviewing revised manuscripts after author revisions.
- Provide constructive editorial feedback to improve manuscript quality.
- Support continuous improvement of editorial standards and workflows.
- Perform other editorial-related duties assigned by the CMO or Publishing Assistant.

Role Rotation Policy
To maintain objectivity and improve overall manuscript quality, BraveMind Publishing practices a role rotation system. Depending on operational needs, a Book Editor may serve as either a Copy Editor or Proofreader on different book projects. This rotation promotes fresh review perspectives, minimizes oversight, strengthens quality control, and ensures transparency throughout the editorial process. Editors will not typically proofread manuscripts they previously copyedited unless specifically authorized by management.
Pay: Php30,000.00 - Php35,000.00 per month

- As part of the role, we require our contractors to be responsive and available during our operational hours, from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM, Monday to Friday. Would you be comfortable with this setup?
