College Counselor – Part-Time

Job Description:

  • Carry a caseload of 12+ students, primarily juniors and seniors
  • Guide students and families through the full college admissions process
  • Build and maintain one-to-one relationships with students
  • Counsel students outside school hours and in their time zones
  • Support both students and their families
  • Track processes and deadlines to ensure nothing falls through the cracks
  • Work approximately 10–20 hours per week with students, depending on season and caseload
  • Complete initial training followed by mentoring, support, and ongoing professional development
  • Use internal systems and third-party tools to manage caseloads, track student progress, and communicate with families
  • Occasionally work weekends during the fall busy season (approximately September–January)

Requirements:

  • Must reside in and be eligible to work in the United States
  • Must be available during West Coast hours as a regular part of the schedule
  • Experience working directly with students and families
  • Ability to work with students of all ages, including freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors
  • Experience navigating parent and family dynamics
  • Ability to manage a caseload of 12+ students
  • Strong project management, deadline tracking, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work autonomously within evolving systems
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Comfort learning and using internal systems and third-party tools
  • Availability to counsel students outside school hours and occasionally on weekends during the busy fall season
  • College admissions experience is not required
  • Must provide own equipment and reliable internet connection
