Data Engineer, Looker

Job Description:

  • Lead the frontend and data modeling layer in Looker (LookML)
  • Transform raw GCP data into actionable insights for clients
  • Manage a complex, multi-tenant Looker environment
  • Maintain the LookML layer using dynamic properties to route users to specific BigQuery datasets
  • Ensure the one-to-many dashboard architecture is secure, scalable, and fast
  • Manage branches and code repositories for models, dashboards, and metrics
  • Manage data access and security filters for multiple external clients within a single BI platform
  • Manage Liquid variables or user attributes in Looker to drive dynamic content
  • Manage Looker groups, roles, users, and custom attributes
  • Interpret incoming data using knowledge of GCP resource structures

Requirements:

  • Expert-level experience building complex Looker/LookML models and managing Looker instances
  • Experience managing branches and code repositories for models, dashboards, and metrics
  • Mastery of advanced SQL for Google BigQuery, including window functions and nested/repeated fields
  • Experience managing multi-tenant data access and security filters for multiple external clients within a single BI platform
  • Knowledge of managing Liquid variables or user attributes in Looker to drive dynamic content
  • Experience managing Looker groups, roles, and users, including custom attributes
  • General understanding of GCP resource structures
