Key Responsibilities

As a Part‑Time Evening Specimen Processor & Data Entry Specialist, you will be the linchpin that connects patient care with laboratory excellence. Your day‑to‑day tasks will include:

  • Specimen Reception & Routing – Receive, label, and route incoming specimens to the appropriate testing stations, ensuring compliance with turnaround time targets.
  • Data Entry Excellence – Accurately input lab requests, test orders, and patient identifiers into our Laboratory Information System (LIS) using 10‑key and keyboard shortcuts.
  • Quality Control Champion – Perform routine QC checks, flag discrepancies, and collaborate with the QA team to implement corrective actions.
  • Safety Steward – Adhere to biosafety protocols, wear appropriate PPE, and maintain a clean, hazard‑free work environment.
  • Team Collaboration – Work closely with phlebotomists, technicians, and clinical staff to resolve specimen issues and support patient care.
  • Process Improvement – Identify bottlenecks, suggest workflow enhancements, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Documentation & Reporting – Generate daily logs, exception reports, and maintain accurate audit trails for regulatory compliance.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education – High School Diploma or equivalent; associate degree in a related field is a plus.
