DIRECTOR OF SINGLE MOMS COMMUNITY PROGRAM

JOB SUMMARY

The Director of the Single Moms Community Program is responsible for providing education and family support to single mothers to enhance their quality of parenting. The program aims to help single mothers within identified communities/ geographic areas to increase their understanding of child development and the emotional needs of their children, improve attachment, reduce behavioral problems, and therefore increase parenting skills, promote safety, well-being, and permanency of the children within the home. This position will implement the program with fidelity via evidence-based models.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

  • Plan, coordinate, and teach the evidence-based model curriculums that address the intellectual, emotional, developmental, cultural, social, and physical needs of the single mom and her children.
  • Assess the single moms’ family needs and provide developmentally appropriate information, guidance, and support.
  • Assist single moms in improving the family support system by increasing protective factors and enhancing access to concrete support.
  • Assist in increasing the single moms’ ability to problem-solve and advocate for themselves and their children.
  • Provide a supportive learning environment to single moms while facilitating the evidence-based models-curriculum at the various church and community sites!
  • Facilitate recruitment of new single mom participants through effective community outreach efforts and maintain an active caseload of classes per cycle as pre-determined by the evidence-base model.
  • Actively recruit additional single moms to be included on a wait list to ensure annual goals of moms and children served are achieved.
  • Collaborate with the external engagement team to identify and develop partnerships and relationships with local churches, various community agencies and other constituents with access to the single mom population in need.
  • Engage single moms in a parent advisory committee and other leadership opportunities to enhance their personal development as well as program development.
  • Maintain and submit documentation within required timelines to meet program fidelity and funding requirements.
  • Provide fiscal management of the Single Moms Community program including budget preparation, decision making, data and metrics and other reporting within assigned communities/ geographic areas.
  • Supervise key staff, maintaining hiring and retention procedures of competent, qualified team members.
  • All other duties as assigned.


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree preferred in a field such as early childhood education, social work, psychology, or human services as well as experience working in child welfare, diverse populations and/or marginalized groups.
  • Current certification in Trust Based Relational Intervention, Motivational Interviewing and other evidence-based parenting models is preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is desirable.

  • Perform at a high level of autonomy, be self-motivated with general supervision, and work flexible hours and days as needed
  • Computer and systems skills including experience with Microsoft Office, Client Management Databases, and other quality improvement tools.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to operate a forklift. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

This job requires the ability to work in stressful conditions from time to time and remain focused for extended periods of time. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds (boxes, documents, and/or equipment) may be required on occasion.
