Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Medical Transcriptionist to join our team in Glasgow, Kentucky. As a Medical Transcriptionist, you will be responsible for transcribing pathology reports from digital voice dictation, ensuring the accuracy and quality of medical records. Key Responsibilities Return dictated reports in electronic form for physician's review, signature, and corrections, and for inclusion in patients' medical records. Review and edit transcribed reports or dictated material for spelling, grammar, clarity, consistency, and proper medical terminology. Transcribe dictation by pathologists and histological staff regarding the gross and microscopic descriptions and diagnosis of anatomic pathology. Distinguish between homonyms and recognize inconsistencies and mistakes in medical terms, referring to dictionaries, drug references, and other sources on anatomy and physiology. Translate medical terminology and abbreviations into their expanded forms to ensure the accuracy of patient and health care facility records. Identify mistakes in reports and check with doctors to obtain the correct information. Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the industry's best security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information and other sensitive company data. Must be familiar with and abide by the Corporate Compliance Program and all Corporate policies, including the Privacy and Security policies. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need 1 year of experience in medical transcription. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify mistakes in reports. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications We are looking for candidates with Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Medical Transcription or a related field. Certification in Medical Transcription, such as RMT (Registered Medical Transcriptionist) or CMT (Certified Medical Transcriptionist). Experience working with electronic medical records (EMRs) and transcription software. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and industry security practices.
