Family Law Paralegal (Part-time – Remote)

We are seeking an experienced, highly autonomous Legal Assistant to join a boutique Family Law practice based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This is a remote position focused on case management, drafting motions, and assisting with financial discovery for divorce and family law cases.

The ideal candidate possesses strong knowledge of U.S. family law processes, excels at managing tasks independently without micromanagement, and maintains the highest standards of confidentiality and detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft family law motions, pleadings, and related legal documents.
  • Prepare legal filings and case materials accurately and efficiently.
  • Review, organize, and analyze client financial documents (bank statements, tax returns, asset disclosures, etc.) for divorce proceedings.
  • Assist with and track Mandatory Disclosure packages required at the initiation of family law cases.
  • Maintain up-to-date case files and client records in MyCase.
  • Organize and manage electronic documents using Dropbox.
  • Assist with firm billing processes and invoice tracking.
  • Attend a weekly case management meeting with the lead attorney to review case status and progress.
Requirements
  • 1+ years of direct experience supporting U.S.-based law firms (Family Law experience strongly preferred).
  • Solid understanding of U.S. family law concepts, procedures, terminology, and motion preparation.
  • Hands-on experience with MyCase and Dropbox.
  • Exceptional self-starter who takes initiative, manages workflows independently, and requires minimal day-to-day oversight.
  • Experience handling highly sensitive personal and financial data with utmost discretion.
  • Schedule Consistency: Ability to dedicate 4 consistent hours every weekday within the 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM EST window.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to ask precise, efficient, and targeted questions when necessary.

  • Role Type: Part-Time / Independent Contractor
  • Hours: 20 hours per week (4 consistent hours daily within the window of 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM Eastern Time / Fort Lauderdale time)

  • Compensation: $800 – $1,000 USD / month
