Freelance Google Ads Consultant

About the Opportunity

We need help with a new growing service business in the local home-services space (HVAC). We are currently running local digital marketing and Google Ads campaigns, and we want an experienced Freelance Google Ads Consultant to step in and give us an objective, diagnostic look at what we are doing as a sanity check.

We are not looking for a passive account manager to just click buttons or keep the lights on. We need a sharp, strategic thinker who understands local service marketing, can identify hidden flaws or wasted ad spend, and isn't afraid to give candid feedback on what works, what doesn't make sense, and what we should change to get actual customers.

This opportunity is structured in two stages:

  • Stage 1 — Initial Audit & Sanity Check: A focused evaluation of our active Google Ads setup, targeting, search queries, wasted spend, and conversion tracking, resulting in actionable recommendations.
  • Stage 2 — Optional Implementation & Ongoing Consulting: If the initial audit provides clear value, we may invite you to implement approved changes, restructure campaigns, and assist with ongoing optimization.

What You'll Do

  • Audit our active Google Ads account to assess campaign structure, keyword selection, and match types.
  • Review geographic targeting and search query reports to identify irrelevance or wasted budget.
  • Evaluate negative keyword strategies to block unqualified traffic.
  • Examine bidding strategies, daily budgets, and ad copy (Responsive Search Ads) effectiveness.
  • Verify conversion tracking configurations, with a heavy emphasis on phone-call tracking and lead quality.
  • Deliver clear, prioritized, and practical recommendations: what we are doing correctly, what we should stop doing, and what opportunities we are missing to win real local customers.

What We're Looking For

Essential Qualifications:

  • Proven experience independently auditing and optimizing Google Search campaigns.
  • Demonstrated track record in lead generation and driving actual phone calls/leads (not just clicks).
  • Deep understanding of negative keyword strategies, geographic targeting, match types, and bidding strategies.
  • Practical expertise setting up and troubleshooting conversion tracking, specifically Google Ads phone call tracking and GA4.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to explain complex PPC data in straightforward, plain language.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, or similar home-service businesses.
  • Based in Metro Manila or nearby regions in the Philippines (for time-zone alignment during feedback sessions).

What Success Looks Like

We do not measure success by vanity metrics like total clicks, impressions, or high click-through rates. Success in this role means:

  • Qualified Customer Calls: Generating phone calls from real prospective customers needing service.
  • Elimination of Wasted Spend: Rapidly identifying and blocking irrelevant searches.
  • Accurate Lead Tracking: Ensuring every phone lead and form submission is accurately recorded.
  • Actionable Strategic Insights: Providing honest, high-value advice that directly improves ROI.
