Freelance Social Media Specialist (Sports)

Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Freelance Social Media Specialist to join the team at OLBG. As the Sports Social Media Specialist, you will be expected to execute our current social media strategy across multiple platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, TikTok, and Reddit) to drive both engagement and growth across our social communities. This role requires a social native who is an expert in engaging social media community management, building followers/communities and amplifying existing content.

This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of the sporting landscape (particularly football, horse racing and darts), social media platforms and trends for both paid-for and organic social. This role requires evening and weekend work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute existing social media strategies to increase OLBG’s engagement and reach across all social media platforms and ultimately drive growth.
  • Get involved in community management on all social media channels, actively monitoring all social media channels to respond promptly to comments, messages, and mentions from followers, fostering meaningful interactions, and building relationships.
  • Identify and execute on opportunities in the sporting social media landscape to drive engagement, reach, and growth for the OLBG brand.
  • Cultivate a positive and inclusive online community around OLBG on Social Media platforms, encouraging user-generated content and user participation in discussions and activities.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest social media tools, trends, and best practices, and help integrate them into our social media strategy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, content, and design, to ensure alignment and consistency across all channels.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation.

Who You Are:

  • Proven experience as a Social Media Specialist or similar role, with a track record of successful social media campaigns and initiatives, growing both engagement and follower numbers, across all major social media platforms.
  • Proven experience in social media advertising platforms, including Meta Business Suite and Twitter/X Ads manager.
  • Proven passion for and deep understanding of both football, horse racing and darts, alongside a broad knowledge of other sports.
  • Demonstrated success in executing effective social media growth strategies, including content optimisation and audience targeting.
  • Knowledge of both sports betting and the regulations around promoting gambling content across social platforms.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, their respective audiences, and best practices for each platform.
  • Proficiency in social media management tools, analytics platforms, and scheduling software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling and engaging written content.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data to drive decisions and optimise performance.
  • Passion for staying ahead of social media trends and innovations, with a continuous learning mindset.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
