Travelers Residual Markets (TRM) operates as a servicing carrier in the workers' compensation assigned risk market, maintaining compliance, quality, and performance standards across a multi-state portfolio. The TRM Quality and Performance Standards team is responsible for quality control, audit, operational performance, and documentation functions that keep TRM running with consistency and precision across four core disciplines: Underwriting, Premium Audit, Risk Control, and Operations. As a Manager, you will sit at the intersection of deep subject matter expertise and emerging leadership — operating as TRM's most advanced technical authority while also taking on meaningful responsibility for team coordination and day-to-day operational oversight where the organizational structure requires it. You will own the most complex state and functional portfolios end-to-end, lead high-stakes quality control and audit work, and serve as the primary driver of circular and state plan change implementation across the team. You will serve as the team's senior technical anchor and are responsible for mentoring peers, leading cross-functional initiatives, and representing the function in leadership conversations. What Will You Do? Own all operational activities for assigned states, including technical oversight and escalation support where junior team members own states. Track, interpret, and coordinate implementation of circulars, bureau bulletins, and state plan changes — from impact assessment through execution and documentation updates. Plan and execute self-audits, maintain continuous triennial audit readiness, and track findings through resolution. May lead the self audit program by delegation. Own quality oversight for TRM's most complex Direct Assignment clients, driving corrective action and contributing to leadership reporting. Serve as senior mentor to less experienced consultants. Cover for the Director on operational matters and represent the function cross-functionally. Identify and act on opportunities to improve performance standards documentation, desktop procedures, and state requirement updates — eliminating redundancy and ensuring materials stay current and scalable. Serve as subject matter expert across Underwriting, Premium Audit, Risk Control, and Operations, and as the primary technical point of contact for Underwriting on assigned state matters. Own carrier performance monitoring for assigned states — tracking results, surfacing trends, supporting the NCCI bid process, and serving as a trusted technical advisor across internal disciplines. Perform other duties as assigned. What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have? Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Insurance or related field. 7+ years of progressive workers’ compensation or assigned risk experience. CPCU, AIC, or other relevant professional designations. Deep knowledge of WC assigned risk market including WCIP mechanics and NCCI frameworks, and independence bureau states; experience leading quality control programs; track record of owning complex responsibilities end-to-end Strong relationship management skills with the ability to represent the function credibility in internal and external conversations.
