Power BI Developer / Analyst

Role summary

We’re hiring an experienced Power BI professional to build and maintain dashboards, reporting, and data models that help our team make fast, data-driven decisions. You’ll own reporting delivery end-to-end, working asynchronously with clear priorities in ClickUp and collaborating via Microsoft Teams.

Responsibilities

  • Gather requirements from stakeholders and turn them into clear reporting specs (tracked in ClickUp).
  • Build and maintain Power BI dashboards/reports (Desktop + Service).
  • Create clean, scalable data models (star schema, relationships, calculated tables where needed).
  • Develop and optimize DAX measures (time intelligence, rolling metrics, segmentation, cohorts).
  • Use Power Query (M) for transformations; build reusable queries and parameters.
  • Connect to multiple data sources (Excel/CSV, SQL, cloud apps/APIs, SharePoint/OneDrive, etc.).
  • Publish to Power BI Service; manage workspaces, datasets, apps, permissions.
  • Configure refresh schedules, gateways/dataflows as needed; monitor failures and fix root causes.
  • Implement Row-Level Security (RLS) when required.
  • Improve performance (model optimization, measure tuning, visual best practices).
  • Document datasets, KPIs, refresh logic, and “how to use” notes for end users.
  • Provide short walkthroughs/training via Teams when new dashboards are released.

What success looks like (30–60 days)

  • 1–2 core dashboards delivered with clear KPI definitions and stakeholder sign-off.
  • Stable refresh and clean data model structure (documented and easy to maintain).
  • A repeatable workflow: intake → build → review → publish → iterate (managed in ClickUp).

Requirements

  • 3+ years building business reporting solutions in Power BI
  • Strong DAX, Power Query (M), and data modeling skills
  • Solid SQL (joins, aggregations; performance awareness)
  • Experience with Power BI Service (publishing, workspaces, refresh, permissions)
  • Strong communication and ability to work independently with task updates in ClickUp
  • Ability to share examples/portfolio (screenshots, Loom walkthrough, or sanitized PBIX)

Nice to have

  • Performance tuning (DAX Studio, model optimization)
  • Microsoft Fabric / Azure / Databricks exposure
  • Experience standardizing KPI definitions and building reporting governance
  • Familiarity integrating reporting with automation (Power Automate)

Please include:

  • Brief summary of Power BI experience (years, industries, data sources)
  • 1–3 examples of work (portfolio/screenshots/video)
  • Hourly rate (USD) and weekly availability

  • Tools you’ve used for collaboration (Teams, ClickUp, Jira, etc.)
