Remote Accounts Payable Clerk

About the Position

We're seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and dependable Accounts Payable Clerk to join our accounting team in a fully remote capacity. In this role, you will process invoices, manage vendor payments, reconcile accounts, and maintain accurate financial records.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable working independently, and communicates effectively with both internal teams and external vendors. Strong attention to detail and proficiency with numbers are essential.
Responsibilities

  • Review and verify incoming invoices for accuracy and completeness
  • Match invoices with purchase orders, receipts, and other supporting documentation
  • Enter invoices into the accounting system with appropriate account and expense codes
  • Monitor payment terms to ensure timely processing and payments
  • Identify and resolve invoice and payment discrepancies with vendors and internal departments
  • Process outgoing payments via checks, ACH/electronic transfers, credit cards, and other approved methods
  • Reconcile vendor statements and accounts payable records to ensure accurate balances
  • Maintain organized, complete records of invoices, payments, and supporting documentation
  • Assist with weekly, monthly, and quarterly accounts payable reports
  • Follow company accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Protect confidential financial and vendor information
  • Communicate professionally with vendors and internal teams regarding payment status and account inquiries
  • Identify opportunities to improve and streamline accounts payable processes
  • Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned
Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience in accounts payable or similar accounting roles
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
  • CAPA or other relevant accounting certification is a plus
  • Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar platforms
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and accounts payable procedures
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and data-entry skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote environment
  • Comfortable collaborating via email, video meetings, chat, and other remote work tools
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion
