Remote Support Specialist (RSS)

About the position

The Digital Services Remote Support Specialist inspects, analyzes, troubleshoots, and programs customer Building Automation Systems (BAS) through Trane’s cloud-based remote connection. The specialist communicates system findings and recommendations to customers and works with the Digital Services team to identify and implement Energy Conservation Methods (ECMs) and optimization opportunities at customer sites. The role also supports Field Technicians with controls-related issues while they are onsite and answers technical questions from other internal teams. This is a virtual position. The company identifies it as safety sensitive, which may require additional drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and program customer Building Automation Systems remotely.
  • Communicate the status of customer systems and prepare reports about them.
  • Provide customer support for emergency calls and triage incoming controls calls.
  • Support Field Technicians with controls-related issues while they are at job sites.
  • Identify and implement Energy Conservation Methods and optimization opportunities for customer BAS.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Typically 3–5 years of experience in HVAC or controls.
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Working proficiency with handheld computers such as a smartphone or iPad.
  • Previous experience with DDC controls systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work remotely in a team environment.
  • Self-motivation and ability to work effectively without direct supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong computer competency.
