Description

Be a Proud Ambassador and part of our security personnel team monitoring passenger and crew activities, investigating security matters that arise, and promptly reporting and correcting security issues in order to maintain a safe and secure shipboard environment in line with the Company’s Proud Values.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Must be able to communicate clearly in written and spoken English
  • Must be experienced in the operation of security screening equipment such as x-ray machines, walkthrough metal detectors, hand-held metal and explosive detectors, CCTV, etc. 
  • Promptly and efficiently leads all onboard investigations of alleged crimes and security incidents as detailed in Fleet Regulations.
  • Oversees all evidence collection and crime scene preservation by ship’s personnel.
  • Promptly investigates minor passenger injuries as directed by the Staff Captain.
  • Always provides an immediate positive first impression to passengers.
  • Continually works with security team to maximize the effectiveness of their operations and service for passengers and crew.
  • Always communicates clearly and appropriately with shipboard and shoreside personnel regarding service provided in all parts of the operation.
  • Always positively communicates Company customer service philosophies and objectives to staff.
  • Continually coaches and encourages staff to display a friendly demeanor and engage with passengers, and ensures security team understands their roles in relation to passengers at all times.
  • Always promotes the goal of resolving passenger problems or concerns immediately, or at a minimum before the cruise ends.
  • Efficiently manages gangway operations including (but not limited to) access control, screening of all personnel wishing to board the vessel for prohibited items, proper relief/rotation of staff, and efficient/effective operations including line management.
  • Efficiently coordinates security operations with outside agencies and promptly completes Declarations of Security as required by the ISPS Code.
  • Effectively and efficiently supervises set up, calibration, operation, and maintenance of all onboard security-related equipment in accordance with manufacturers’/Company requirements.
  • Effectively and efficiently supervises operation and maintenance of security CCTV system in accordance with manufacturers’/Company requirements.
  • Ensures compliance with ISPS and Carnival Corporate Security Standards at all times.
  • Willingly assists the Staff Captain with efficient operation of the master key system on board, with the exception of ships with a computerized master key system.
  • Oversees continual training of the security team in Code Sierra procedures, exercises, drills, and any other security requirements ensuring compliance with international and Company regulations.
  • Effectively and efficiently manages authorized visitor access to the ship, including identification, confirmation of business, and issuance of visitor passes.
  • As detailed by Fleet Regulations, reviews and promptly makes necessary entries into the Port & Ship Security Management Database, based on occurrences.
