Senior Finance Accountant - Trading/Logistics

I am looking for a senior finance accountant with at least 3 years of related experience to support the business through accurate reporting, robust controls, and commercial insight as we strive to become a premier shipping and logistics service provider. The successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of financial records, month-end close, statutory reporting, and financial controls within a commercial shipping and logistics environment.

about the job

  • Own the end-of-month (EOM) and year-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely completion.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) with supporting commentary and variance analysis
  • Prepare and post journals (accruals, prepayments, provisions, depreciation).
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items promptly.
  • Support the preparation of statutory accounts in line with [UK GAAP / FRS 102 / IFRS]
  • Ensure compliance with tax obligations, including GST returns and liaison on corporation tax with advisers/authorities.
  • Manage the company’s tax filings, ensuring accurate and timely submission
  • Provide financial insight and analysis to support budgeting, forecasting, and business decisions
  • Support cash flow management, forecasting, and working capital reporting.
  • Oversee/review aspects of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations as required

skills and experience required

  • ACCA/CPA
  • At least 3 years as a Senior Accountant experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles and standards ( SFRS / IFRS])
  • Proven experience of end-of-month (EOM) close, audit coordination, and balance sheet reconciliation.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP.
  • Intermediate Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas).
  • Ability to develop accounting templates, standardize processes, and drive continuous process improvement.
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet reporting deadlines.
