SEO Specialist — Website Optimisation

About the Role We're looking for an experienced SEO specialist to lead a structured, phased project to rebuild how our website performs in both traditional search and AI-powered search tools (ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews), then stay on in an ongoing capacity to keep growing our visibility. This isn't a "set it and forget it" SEO gig. You'll start with hands-on research and strategy, rebuild key pages so they speak clearly to buyers and search engines alike, implement technical schema, set up proper analytics and conversion tracking, and then move into an ongoing monthly retainer to maintain and grow results over time. Responsibilities Research & Strategy - Conduct keyword research across our core services and target locations/suburbs - Research how buyers are searching via AI tools (ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews) to inform content and keyword strategy - Lead a strategy session with us to agree on priority services and pages to focus on Website & Technical SEO Implementation - Rewrite and restructure key website pages — copy, headings, page structure, meta titles and descriptions — so the site clearly communicates what we do to both users and search engines - Hand-code FAQ and Local Business schema markup so search engines and AI tools clearly understand what we do and where we operate Analytics & Tracking Setup - Set up a fresh GA4 account (owned and controlled by us), connected to Google Search Console and Google Tag Manager - Configure conversion tracking so every enquiry and key on-site action is properly recorded Reporting & Monitoring - Build a clear, simple reporting setup so we can see site performance at a glance - Walk us through how to read and pull our own reports from GA4 - Monitor keyword positions over the following months to track the impact of changes Ongoing Monthly Retainer - Make website content updates and changes as needed - Continue SEO work to grow visibility in both Google and AI-driven search - Deliver monthly GA4 performance reports with actionable insights - Track and report keyword positions monthly to show progress over time Requirements / Skills - Proven experience in on-page and technical SEO, including keyword research, content optimisation, and page restructuring - Hands-on experience hand-coding schema markup (FAQ schema, LocalBusiness schema) - Experience setting up GA4, Google Search Console, and Google Tag Manager from scratch, including conversion tracking - Working knowledge of SEO/analytics tools such as SEMrush, Ahrefs, or similar - Familiarity with how AI search tools (ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, etc.) surface content, and how to optimise for them (Generative Engine Optimisation / GEO) — highly regarded - Strong copywriting ability — comfortable rewriting service pages so they read well for humans and perform well for search - Experience working within CMS platforms to implement content and structural changes - Ability to explain technical results in plain language to non-technical stakeholders - Local/suburb-based SEO experience is a plus - Self-directed and comfortable owning a project from research through to ongoing retainer management How to Apply Please send through: - A short overview of your relevant experience and 2–3 case studies or examples of similar work (ideally including a schema implementation and a GA4/GSC/GTM setup) - Your approach to a Phase 1–style engagement (research, page rewrite, schema) — briefly, no need for a full proposal - Your rate (hourly, project-based, or retainer — whichever you prefer to quote) and availability - Any relevant tools/platforms you have licenses for (SEMrush, Ahrefs, etc.) We'll review applications and follow up to arrange a short call.
