WFH - Bookkeeper & Finance Administrator (Xero | Australian Accounting)

Overview:

Our client is a hospitality business based in Melbourne, Australia, operating two store locations. They are focused on establishing a consistent, reliable financial workflow to ensure all entities stay audit-ready and organized.

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper & Finance Administrator (Xero | Australian Accounting) to take ownership of daily financial and administrative operations. This role is critical in clearing historical backlogs and maintaining a seamless, up-to-date financial record system across two business entities.

Schedule: Flexible schedule within Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) business hours (20 work hours per week)

Responsibilities:

  • Manage bank reconciliations and transaction categorization in Xero for multiple entities
  • Process supplier invoice payments and maintain current vendor accounts
  • Monitor and triage incoming emails, handling urgent financial and admin tasks
  • Execute accounts receivable follow-ups to maintain healthy cash flow
  • Upload and organize financial documents and receipts for audit readiness
  • Perform general administrative tasks to support smooth store operations
  • Coordinate with the business owner to ensure all financial tasks are prioritized
  • Verify incomplete records and complete historical reconciliation tasks
Requirements:
  • Proven experience with Xero bookkeeping specifically for Australian businesses
  • Deep familiarity with ATO compliance and Australian financial reporting standards
  • Exceptional attention to detail and record-keeping accuracy
  • Strong written communication skills for professional email triaging
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
  • Experience in the hospitality industry is a plus
  • Previous experience managing bookkeeping across multiple business entities is an advantage
