Job Description
The Coordinator of Early Childhood Programs position will perform all administrative duties and provide administrative support to the Department of Early Childhood Education, the collaborating State Mandated Preschool Centers, and families, in their goal to provide all preschool children a high-quality preschool program. The coordinator will support the Department’s fiscal team, staff, collaborative partners and families with accessing district data systems and technology and assist the Department in outreach activities. The Coordinator of Early Childhood Programs is expected to perform these tasks efficiently while providing a high level of customer service. In addition, this position is tasked with ensuring that all stakeholders have the tools needed to conduct the business of educating preschool children.
Qualifications:
- Have a minimum of 60 college credits. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Have at least five years of experience and understanding of New Jersey’s State-Mandated Preschool Programs.
- Have strong interpersonal and communication skills and experience.
- Have demonstrated success in providing high levels of customer service.
- Have ability to plan, organize, complete assigned work.
- Have ability to analyze and solve problems in a quick and accurate manner.
- Have the ability to work in an active, high-volume work environment.
- Have experience working effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Have experience in an urban school district, preferred.
- Have general knowledge of employment law and regulations.
- Have ability to analyze and communicate analysis of data.
- Have excellent organizational data management and computer skills.
- Have a strong desire to be part of a collaborative, team focused environment which emphasizes customer service.
- Communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
- Bilingual, preferred.
- Provide proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status by completing Federal Form I-9 in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.
- Provide evidence that a criminal record history check has been conducted and clearance has been given by the Department of Education. During the initial six month period to provide a sworn statement that the individual has not been convicted of a crime or a disorderly person’s offense in accordance with 18A: 6-7.1.
- Provide evidence that health is adequate to fulfill the job functions and responsibilities, with reasonable accommodation pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 12101 and in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6:3-4A.4
Job Functions and Responsibilities for Early Childhood Coordinator of Operations
- Work with collaborating State Mandated Preschools to provide support of the Preschool Program.
- Assist and support the Department of Early Childhood Education staff, administrators, PPS teachers, principals, and staff with support of the Preschool Program.
- Perform various clerical responsibilities.
- Be the Staff Attendance Coordinator for the Department.
- Provide preschool program staff, employees, and collaborating partners excellent customer service by supplying correct information or forwarding calls to appropriate resources within the department or district, if necessary.
- Support communication and initiatives related to Paterson Public Schools and the Department of Early Childhood Education.
- Prepare and complete variety of management reports and metrics for the Preschool Program Compose correspondence, reports, memorandums, meeting agendas and other documents using word processing, spreadsheet, or presentation software.
- Provide logistical and coordination support for key Department of Early Childhood Education events, trainings, and meetings and collect, organize and file professional development documentation.
- Support the Department of Early Childhood’s supervisors and director with special projects.
- Assist with preschool center staff changes by creating change in staff letters.
